Valent BioSciences Awards, sponsored at the level of $250 by Valent BioSciences, recognize the best student poster and the best student oral presentations at the Annual Meeting of the Plant Growth Regulation Society of America. The 2010 student presentations were given as oral and poster presentations and awards were presented at the annual business meeting in Portland.
2010 Student Paper Award:
Pritha Voothuluru and her advisor Dr. Robert E. Sharp, from the University of Columbia-Missouri for their paper entitled "Abscisic Acid and Apoplastic Reactive Oxygen Species: Regulators of Root Growth at Low Water Potentials"
2010 Young Scientist Award
Dr. Sean Cutler, from the Center for Plant Cell Biology, Department of Botany and Plant Sciences, Department of Chemistry (CFM) University of California, Riverside received the Young Scientist Award for outstanding research on the ABA Receptor. Dr. Cutler presented a paper entitled "Chemical and Genetic Dissection of ABA Receptor Function."
Dr. Peter Petracek (Valent Bioscinces) presented the PGRSA Young Scientist Award to Dr. Sean Cutler (University of California-Riverside).
