The PGRSA 2018 Annual Meeting, set to take place in San Juan, Puerto Rico, was canceled due to very low registration numbers. This was a serious financial loss for the Society and caused the Steering Committee to make some difficult decisions. Over the course of two Steering Committee meetings following the 2018 cancelation, it was determined that the PGRSA could no longer continue in its current format. The Society simply does not have the financial resources to weather another major loss like it did in 2018. Per the PGRSA Articles of Incorporation, if the Society ever ceases to operate, we are to transfer all assets to another professional scientific and educational society having an interest in agriculture. We have begun discussions to do this with the American Society for Horticultural Science (ASHS); however, those negotiations are not finalized. There will not be a 2019 PGRSA Annual Meeting. The PGRSA encourages members to consider submitting an abstract and attending this year’s ASHS Annual Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, July 21-25. Please be aware that the abstract submission deadline is Friday, March 1. ASHS has an active Plant Growth Regulation Professional Interest Group (formerly Working Group). As soon as PGRSA has more information about its future relationship with ASHS, the Steering Committee will communicate that with its members. The PGRSA Steering Committee thanks its members for 46 great years.
